BEGINNER WOODWORKING WORKSHOPS
Wall Mounted Coat Rack
with by Tom Parmelee
In this class you will build and finish your very own wooden coat rack. This class is great for beginners or for someone looking to learn about wall mounted furniture.
Bluebird House
with Tom Parmelee
Student will take a simple cedar fence picket and learn the process of breaking the board down to the components needed for the bird house.
*Note that if you bring a partner, you will be making one birdhouse.
Cutting Boards
with Tom Parmelee
Students will learn about different species of woods to use for food safe projects, how to join pieces of wood together, and different oils for sealing them.
*We encourage you to take Woodworking 101 before signing up for this class, though it is not a requirement.
Intro to Hand Tools

Students will delve into the fundamentals of craftmanship, focusing on the mastery of hand planes, chisels, hand saws, and various hand tool woodworking techniques.
Woodworking 101

In this class you will learn the ins and outs of a modern woodworking shop. What tools do what and how to use them, safety, and what wood species work best for certain projects.
Bat House
with Tom Parmelee
This is a fun and easy class to assemble your own bat house! You will be assembling pre-cut pieces that make up your new neighbor’s home.
*Note that if you bring a partner, you will be making one bat house.
Intermediate woodworking workshops
Intro to Dovetails
with Joe Merrey
In this class we will learn one of the most essential and daunting furniture joints- the dovetail. Using only a hand saw, chisel, and hand full of marking tools, learn how to make the beautiful and strong dovetail joint without machinery.
*Note: You must have previously taken intro to hand tools with Joe or be able to demonstrate that you are familiar with hand tool woodworking.
Hand-Cut Mortise and Tennon Joinery
with Joe Merrey
Learn how to craft a strong mortise and tenon joint using only hand tools. This hands-on class covers layout, sawing, chiseling and fitting techniques with chisels, mallets, marketing gauges and hand saws.
*Note: You must have previously taken intro to hand tools with Joe or be able to demonstrate that you are familiar with hand tool woodworking.
