Meet our new Barn Manager, Tom Parmelee!
Tom was born in Minnesota and has lived in Chicago, Singapore, and North Idaho, where he ran a cabinet and custom furniture shop. He recently moved to the Maryland area for the great schools for his daughter. Tom was educated as a mental health councilor, but left counseling to follow his passion of woodworking. He has been trained in woodworking by North Bennett in Boston and College of the Redwoods in California. His favorite style is Greene and Greene.

WOODWORKING CLASSES
Beginner Woodworking: Make a Cutting Board Wednesday 9/4 & 9/11
6:00 pm - 9:00 pm
In this two-part class, participants will make their own cutting boards to use in their homes.
Enjoy the basics of woodworking with Joe Merrey as you learn how to use a drill press, miter saw, and screwdriver. All pairs will leave the class with one birdhouse, ready for the paint or finish of your choice.
Students will delve into the fundamentals of craftmanship, focusing on the mastery of hand planes, chisels, hand saws, and various hand tool woodworking techniques.
Intermediate Woodturning: Mini Bowls Saturday 9/14, 8:30 am - 12:00 pm
Jim Prinkey will be teaching the intricacies of how to turn a mini bowl! You will be given the opportunity to use the skills you’ve learned in beginners classes but with a little more depth in using a lathe.

In this class, you and a child learn the fundamentals and safety associated with MIG welding, practice welding, and take home a welded bird sculpture that you collaboratively make using old silverware. Age 10 and up.
Intermediate Welding: Create your own Project - By Appointment Only
For those who have taken the intro welding class and ready for the next step! Bring your own vision and materials to weld something of your design. Maybe you have an old iron patio chair that you want to repair. Perhaps you have some scrap steel to convert into a garden sculpture to accompany your bird or dragonfly!
