Chris Powell is a Graduate of the Schuler School of Fine Arts, Baltimore, Maryland. She co-founded, co-directed and taught at the Towson Fine Arts School. She also taught drawing and painting in her studio for thirty-nine years. Barton-Cotton Publishers printed her artwork for the National Wildlife Federation, the National Humane Education Association, and the Maryknoll Fathers. Her paintings have been judged into numerous open exhibitions with the Shades of Pastel and the Pastel Society of America. Her artwork is included in the collection of Alice and Andrew Giffuni, the former Haussner’s collection and many other private collections. The Crispus Attucks Association commissioned Chris to create a portrait of Loretta Claiborne which adorns the lobby of the Loretta Claiborne Building in York, PA. Her Pet Portraits had stirred so much interest that she had been interviewed for television, radio and newspaper publications. She is a Signature Member of the Pastel Society of America and the Maryland Pastel Society of which she has held the positions of President, Treasurer, Recording Secretary and Juror for Signature Membership.

Besides satisfying her clients with portraits of their pets, Chris Powell creates paintings of Nature which endeavor to express experiences of life. Please take the time to explore, absorb, reflect, and enjoy.
